Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” is a great rock/alternative rock song, and it definitely makes me think of the times we are living in right now. Everything from the lyrics to to the instrumentals work really well; the song overall has such a cool sound. This is a song that has stuck with me for a long time, and one that I don’t ever seem to get tired of. It can definitely be seen as too emo or depressing, and while that might be true, it works well as a cathartic song to listen to and release your emotions. Especially with the current pandemic, the lyrics are very fitting for us facing this hardship around the world. “I walk this empty street, On the boulevard of broken dreams, Where the city sleeps, And I’m the only one and I walk alone…” Right now many of us do feel alone as we see our empty streets, and many go us feel somewhat hopeless. This song is especially cathartic and relevant right now. Nevertheless, we’re all in this together. And we will walk through our broken-dream-boulevard to a light at the end.
