Empty Cities of the World

During the coronavirus pandemic, many of the world’s usually crowded cities are nearly empty on the streets. Since we started social distancing, it’s something that I’ve been fascinated to look at. Although I obviously wish this whole thing wasn’t happening, there is almost strange and eerie beauty in seeing every major city in the world like this. It doesn’t feel right, but I have always wondered what it would actually look like if humans suddenly disappeared from the Earth. Right now is (hopefully) the closest I’ll ever come to actually witnessing that. It is both depressing and fascinating at the same time.

To see a place close to home where I’ve been countless times, like Times Square, so deserted is one of the most surreal things I’ve ever seen

Probably the most positive thing to come out of this pandemic is its impact on the environment. With cities and the world so empty, nature is able to breathe again.

LA without its usual smog

The fact that all these major cities around the world are all equally as empty, is a reminder that we are all going through this together.
