Foods of Quarantine (Photography)

Since we’ve started truly social distancing, I haven’t gotten takeout from a single place. Hopefully this changes soon, but my family and I just haven’t feel comfortable ordering out (although it’s probably fine). As much as I miss food from restaurants and places in the world, I have eaten some pretty interesting meals and good food while at home. This is thanks to my mom who’s been cooking big meals almost every night, and also Hello Fresh, which is a meal kit company we’ve ordered from for years, but especially now they are an amazing thing to have. Very few of their recipes disappoint.

Food is something I really enjoy as a subject for photography, because you eat it and then it’s gone forever. Taking photos of good food is a way to preserve something so impermanent and remember it. This is a collection of my photography throughout the quarantine so far, of some of our best foods and meals.

This was from close to the beginning in March, a cheesesteak sandwich with potatoes on the side (Hello Fresh). It’s one of my favorites so far. It was such a big explosion of flavor.
We made good use of the leftover meat for the next few nights, eating it on all different rolls and types of bread.
Cheesy pasta with tomato and chicken (Hello Fresh)
One of if not the the best thing I’ve had to eat throughout this whole time, a pineapple upside down cake. It was made for a Luau themed dinner my family and I did that night. My mom would not have made this if we were not in quarantine.

Chicken pockets, which are actually based on a recipe Disney released for their chicken pockets sold at the China pavilion in Epcot. When we go to Walt Disney World, we love to get them.
