Final

For my final, I made a pretend advertising campaign for my dachshund-yorkie (AKA Dorkie) dog, Summer, as if she were an up and coming movie star in Hollywood. To do this, I made a poster on Photoshop for her new movie, a WordPress site promoting her as the next biggest celebrity, and a teaser trailer on Premiere for the movie, with a soundtrack I put together in Audition. The idea for this originally came because around the time the project was assigned was her one year gotcha day (May 2nd) and I wanted to make something related to that. Then it evolved from there. As for the movie, I made it about an attack of a giant squirrel because my dog constantly barks at squirrels and I figured it would be a funny way to blow that out of proportion and exaggerate it, as if a threatening squirrel monster suddenly came. In the trailer I used a squirrel toy she owns and attempted to make it appear bigger (although I’m not sure how well it worked, you might have to use your imagination). For the trailer’s audio, I took beats and cinematic-suspense sound effects from YouTube and compiled them together, with my own foley added as well (such as my toaster slamming and the creaking of my floor) to make a relatively custom soundtrack. The website is meant to tie the poster and trailer to a fictionalized background story on her, which actually incorporates her real life story currently and before we adopted her. For example, I made her “husband’s” name Biscuit, which in reality, is her best dog friend. Overall, the website is meant to be exaggerated promotion for her as Hollywood’s next biggest celebrity and give a bigger picture on the whole concept. In addition to her status and background, it also promotes a big premiere party she’s hosting when the movie comes out next year, which I wrote information about in a blog post.
