The idea for my project came from my brother. Since he was little, he has loved to act and dress up as characters, and wants to pursue acting as a career. Over the years he has accumulated many props and costumes from various pop culture franchises, and this project put them to use. Initially, I came up with the narrative idea that every time my brother snaps his fingers, he turns into a new character (which should make the viewer keep wondering who comes next). I figured I could create this giant mashup of different characters that I also know well and love, using music and effects from their shows or movies. I also wanted to put a spin on it. I had the characters not only recite some of their famous lines and show off their personalities, but also react as if they were suddenly placed into our crazy, movie-like world right now. They are reacting in their own distinct ways to the virus, while incorporating their strong personalities at the same time. Besides it being comical, the overall message of the video is that entertainment is a powerful thing we can use to not only escape the problems of our lives and our world, but to better face them.

To create my video, I used a combo of Adobe Premiere and After Effects. It was quite challenging to learn just the basics of these programs, as I have never used them, but I am happy with the final result. I have wanted to introduce myself to and experiment with Adobe video editing software, and this project gave me a great opportunity to do so!!
